Dental tooth reshaping, is a basic procedure where your dentist blends away small chips and imperfections in your smile by removing small amounts of enamel from the effective teeth.

It’s important to keep in mind that dental contouring is only warranted teeth that have a sufficient amount of healthy enamel. Before starting the procedure, the dentist will inspect your mouth and probably take a few X-rays to assess each tooth. If the damaged area would risk exposing the sensitive pulp layer of the tooth, they might recommend dental veneers or replacing all of the enamel on one or more teeth with a crown

After the procedure the dentist might recommend one or more fluoride treatments to help strengthen the remaining enamel on your teeth to help prevent tooth decay and future chips. This might also include supplemental fluoride such as tabs or concentrated fluoride gel.

Increased fluoride exposure in your oral hygiene routine will help. So it’s a good idea to use a brand of toothpaste with added fluoride at home. There are also brands of antiseptic mouthwash that have added fluoride.
